As far back as I can remember I
have always wanted to be a writer. Throughout the years, I have used my writing
skills to comfort, encourage and assist others during those difficult times;
the rough patches in life that often deplete our strengths and inner resources.
My role was to help them take advantage of the reserves awaiting the body’s
need. If a family member or friend joined the military or went off to college,
I would spend countless hours writing letters, poems and short stories to help
deal with being homesick. I often created my own expressions for homemade
greeting cards to console the grieving, support the sick and to send messages of
love for lovesick hearts. However, as I reach the age where one begin to
reflect on his accomplishments, achieved goals or fulfilled dreams, I realize
that I have yet to make a mark or achieve a personal quest to establish a
level of success. I have no children and once my body retires to the earth’s
garden of collected souls, who will remember my contributions or me if there
aren’t any. Therefore, I now pursue the one dream my heart has embraced for
many years. The desire to be an author, the creator of tales that will take
readers on an unforgettable journey into the world of a writer’s
imagination. I often entertained dreams of winning the
Pulitzer. In the past, I have written poetry, short stories and two complete
novels. Submitted the poetry for consideration and was accepted by a number of publications.
That was it until the year 2013. I now have three books published; The Dooms
Day Drill, The Chicken Skin Murder and The Beast Next Door. All
of this came about recently when I decided to take a leap of faith and attempt
to capture my lifelong passion of becoming a published writer. To find my place
in the literary neighborhood and contribute to the community's word bank. I
hope that you will take the opportunity to examine the books I have mentioned
and find them an enjoyable read.Denorris Darkley
